It seems Acer is all set to capture more of electronic market share with the launch of a pair of Android Honeycomb tablets along with a new smartphone and their own app store soon.
Honeycomb Tablets:
7-inch tablet would feature:
- A dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor
- WXGA resolution (1280 x 800) display
- Support for Flash Player 10.1
- Run Honeycomb and the Acer UI 4.5
- 10-inch tablet would feature:
- A dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor
- TFT display with WXGA resolution (1280 x 800)
- 5 MP rear-facing camera + HD front-facing camera
- HDMI output (720p)
- Support for Flash Player 10.1
- Run Google Android Tablet OS (Honeycomb) and Acer UI 4.5
Note: Both tablets are expected to launch around April 2011.
Android Smartphone
It’s new Android phone would feature:
- 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
- Ultra-wide 4.8 inch display with 1024 x 480 resolution
- 8 megapixel camera with LED flash
- HD 720p video recording
- 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
- 6-axis motion sensing with HDMI out, and “LED edge lighting”
App store
Acer also announced that they will soon be launching their own app store called Alive. The marketplace will feature apps, games, movies, music, and book and will go live in the UK this December for Windows 7 clients. The Android version is expected to roll out in Q2 2011 around the time when their new tablets hit.
