As we have informed you already about the iTunes 10.5 which is set to release for free by the Apple and the iTunes 10.5.1 which was released for the developers only. Prior to iOS 5 public release scheduled for later today, Apple has just released Find My Friends. This social network of sorts for iOS 5 was unveiled that the media event on October 4. You can now download Find My Friends app for iPhone 4S as well as all supported iOS 5 devices.
It’s not like your regular Social network, so don’t start with all the rants about how you don’t need another new one. This is only for iPhone users who’re on iOS 5, well technically, it’s for any iOS device who’s running iOS 5 and wants others to know where they are. I know, there’s already an app for that, like Foursquare maybe? Well, this is more exclusive. And it’s all in the cloud, so that means you need to have an iCloud account, have uninterrupted internet access and an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

Find My Friends social network for iOS 5 runs on iCloud that was released publicly earlier today. Its function is pretty simple as you must have guessed by now. Find My Friends lets you share your location as well as see the location of your friends. However don’t think that anyone will be able to stalk you right away. You are required to manually approve those with whom you want to share your location with and vice versa. Find My Friends app integrates with the Maps and Contacts app of iOS 5. Maps is used to displaying the location whereas Contacts app is used to pull in information of those who you want to or already are sharing your location with using Find My Friends. Parents will be able to use Parental Restrictions in order to control minor’s access to Find My Friends.
In an easy to understand map view, the location of Friends that you have added from your Address Book is displayed. If you don’t want your friends to know where you are at any given time of the day, simply opt for temporary location sharing. This will only send location information to those you want to for a limited time only ranging from a few hours to days and weeks.
