How To Install Android 4.0.1 ICS Build 13 Firmware On Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000

The Samsung Galaxy S is an Android smartphone that was announced by Samsung. As of January 2011, Samsung had sold 10 million Galaxy S phones globally. After build 5, build 8 and build 10, now there is good news for galaxy users that they can update with build 13 of Ice Cream Sandwich firmware. But before we give you the actual steps, you should know that this is not full fledged version and is a test version. Today in this article, I will tell you that how to install android 4.0.1 build 13 firmware on samsung galaxy s gt i9000.

The Samsung Galaxy S used the Samsung S5PC110 processor. This processor combined a 45 nm 1 GHZ ARM Cortex-A8 based CPU core with a PowerVR SGX 540 GPU made by Imagination Technologies which supported OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0and was capable of up to 20 million triangles per second. The CPU core, code-named “Hummingbird,” was co-developed by Samsung and Intrinsity. This processor was subsequently renamed to the Samsung Exynos 3110 in October 2011.

The Samsung Galaxy S has 512 MB of LPDDR1 RAM (Mobile DDR). Some variants also come with either 8 GB or 16 GB of OneNAND memory combined in a package-on-package stack with the processor. An external microSD card slot supports up to 32 GB of additional storage memory.It features a 4-inch 480×800 pixel Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 5-megapixel camera with a maximum resolution of 2560×1920 and, on select models, a front-facing 0.3 MP VGA camera (640×480) and runs on Android 2.1 but upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating system.

Prime Requisites :

  • Take Backup of your Android phone contacts, your apps and your accounts associated with it.
  • Download the required files.
  • Make sure Your Android phone is atleast 50% charged so that it can’t get switched off.
  • Make sure that data cable is properly connected.

Note: This update can only be applied to the devices whose phones have model number as I9100 and not even I9000B/ I9000T etc.

Install Android 4.0.1 ICS Build 13 Firmware On Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000

Step 1: Enable the USB Debugging Mode. The image below will show you exactly how you can enable it.

Just Head Over to Setting > Applications > Developement > USB Debugging

Step 2: Make sure that you are rooted on firmware. If not, you can update the Galaxy S with XXJVU firmware from here or click here to root your Galaxy S with XXJVU.

Step 3: Download the ICS Android 4.0.1 13 Package, Google Apps and Face unlock features Package. Save these files in your computer.

Step 4: Then connect the device to the computer via USB data cable and copy all these three files in your phone.

Step 5:Disconnect the phone from your computer.Turn off the handset and boot to recovery mode.The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume Up key together with the Menu Key and Power ON.

Step 6: In Recovery mode, selecting option of “Wipe data/factory reset” and “ Wipe Cache Partition”. This will clear all data from your device.

Step 7: In Recovery Mode, Navigate to “Install ZIP from SD card”, then selecting “ Choose ZIP from SD Card”. Locate and select the file for the ICS Android 4.0.1 build 13 package, Google Apps and Face Unlock feature package one after other in mentioned order.

Step 8: The update will take around 10 minuted to complete. Once done, you will taken back to recovery mode.

Step 9: In Recovery mode, selecting option of “Wipe data/factory reset” and “ Wipe Cache Partition”. This will clear all data from your device after which select “++++ Go Back ++++” then select reboot system now. This will reboot your phone.
