The Motorola Droid 3 is the successor of Motorola Droid 2. The Motorola Droid 3 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating system and is powered by 1 GHZ dual core Cortex A9 CPU, PowerVR SGX540 GPU and TI OMAP 4430 chipset.
The Motorola Droid 3 comes with 4.0 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen display with the resolution of 540×960 pixels, support 16M colors and pixel density that is 275ppi. The phone packs with 8 megapixel rear camera and VGA secondary camera. - There should be no Bootstrap apps installed on the device. Please uninstall the apps if there are any.
- You need a PC that runs on Windows Vista or Windows 7
- You need atleast 170 MB of free storage space in the SD card storage.
- The Motorola Droid 3 has to be fully charged to avoid interruptions.
How To Upgrade Motorola Droid 3 To Android 4.0 ICS Using CyanogenMod 9
Step 1: First step, Download and Install the SafeStrap app to your phone from here.
Step 2: Run the SafeStrap app you downloaded and choose the option to “Install Recovery”. A number will appear at the bottom of the screen after you tap “Install Recovery”. Make sure it is 0.92. If not you should abort the process.
Step 3: Download the CyanogenMod 9 ROM and save it to your PC.
Step 4: Connect the device via USB data cable and copy the CyanogenMod 9 to your phone SD card.
Step 5: Disconnect the phone from computer and switch off the device.
Step 6: Turn on the phone again and while it is booting up, you will see a splash screen. Once you see the splash screen, press the Menu key. This will boot your device into recovery mode.
Step 7: Create a backup of your device by choosing an appropriate option found under the recovery menu.
Step 8: Enable “Safe System” from the SafeStrap menu.
Step 9: Go to Mount menu then select “Format System”.
Step 10: Next step, you have to select the “Install zip from SD card” and browse for the CyanogenMod 9 ROM file that you have downloaded earlier.
Step 11: Wait for the installation process to complete. When it is done, select the “Wipe data/factory reset” option. Your Motorola Droid 3 will be automatically reboot and it will run the CyanogenMod 9.
Since this is an aplha version of CyanogenMod 9, there are some features that are not working properly and some don’t even work at all.
