The T-Mobile mytouch 4G is a smartphone designed and manufactured by HTC Corporation. For all users of HTC my touch 4G has a good news that they can install Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware. This is not an official firmware released by HTC and there are no chances of releasing ICS.

The HTC mytouch 4G runs on Android 2.2 Froyo but it is upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. It is powered by 1GHZ Scorpion CPU, Adreno 205 GPU and Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset. The phone packs with 3.8 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen display with the resolution of 480×800 pixels and having a pixel density that is 246ppi.
It comes with 5 megapixel rear camera and VGA front facing camera. Prime Requisites :
- Take Backup of your Android device contacts, your apps and your accounts associated with it.
- Make sure Your Android device is atleast 50% charged so that it can’t get switched off.
- Make sure that data cable is properly connected.

Note: If you have already updated mytouch 4G with any of the custom ROM then you need to enter into recovery mode and select “ Wipe data/factory reset”, “Wipe Cache partition” and after this you need to select “reboot system now” to restart the phone. Additionally, you need to clear the Dalvik Cache from the recovery mode from the advanced option.
How To Install Android 4.0.3 ICS Firmware On HTC mytouch 4G:
Step 1: Enable USB Debugging mode on your device, You can do this
Settings> Applications> Development
Step 2: Download Android 4.0.3 ICS from here along with Google Apps from here to your computer.
Step 3: After downloaded, copy the two downloaded files to your phone SD card.
Step 4: Then disconnect the phone from computer, turn off the phone and enter into recovery mode.
Step 5: The boot loader mode can be entered by pressing Volume Up key + OK button and holding bot simultaneously press the Power Button.
Step 6: After entering into boot loader mode, select the option “Recovery” to enter the device into recovery mode.
Step 7: In recovery mode, Navigate to “Install zip from sd card” and then select “ Choose Zip from sd card” to select the ICS file as well as Google Apps which you have placed in your phone.
Step 8: Once the update is successfull, the device will land up in recovery mode screen. In recovery mode screen, select Go Back and select the “reboot system now” to reboot the phone.
