As we have already reported that the tethered jailbreak was released for the iOS 6 - the Apple’s most recent firmware for their Mobile based operating system iPhone OS supporting the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod 4th Generation. Since after the successful jailbreak of iOS 6 beta, using the SSH access there is a way to install the Cydia (Saurik – the developer behind the Cydia)on your iOS 6 beta and taste the 3rd Party jailbreak apps after the installation.
There is nothing very technical in the installation of Cydia on the iOS 6 firmware, all you need to do is follow the steps below.
Things you will Need :-
- A Jailbroken iPhone with the iOS 6 beta installed.
- A SSH editor like Putty [How to Install Cydia on iOS 6 beta
Step 1 : SSH into your jailbroken device through any one of the softwares mentioned above. The credentials would be : SSH username = “root” SSH password = “alpine”
Step 2: Now, execute the following command via SSH:
wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://wyndrepo.googlecode.com/files/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.shStep 3: Now, your iPhone will respring. Cydia will appear on the Home Screen. Open it and the package will update the filesystem. Once that is done, Cydia will respring again.
Step 4: Now you can use Cydia and start installing apps and tweaks via Cydia. Beware that most apps and tweaks have not been updated with iOS 6 in mind, so your mileage may vary as far as compatibility is concerned. Proceed at your own risk.
That’s it. With this, you can start using Cydia and enjoy. If you have any problem installing the Cydia on your Jailbroken iPhone which is running the iOS 6, then you may also use the comment form to ask for the help.
